I borrowed this post off ls1.com.au after I had posted re the system I had installed at my place, Drew wrote this thread about it after he installed it. Some might find the following handy if you dont garage your vehicle. Thanks to Drew.
Basically it is a complete CCTV kit that comes with everything you need to get up and running. I don't know much about this stuff so wanted something that you just plug in and away you go as I didn't know the necessary individual bits to buy.
The DVR unit connects to a monitor via a composite cable, which luckily my monitor has. So you just change the input from VGA to composite to switch between PC view and the CCTV. The DVR can also connect to a router via network cable so you can view the cameras via your local network, or from the www - easiest if you have a static ip. The DVR is fairly easy to use, with all operations performed mainly with a few buttons of the front. There are a lot of menu settings but you don't need to adjust many to get up and running the way you want. The cameras can be set to record:
This site has quite a bit of information, including pics and the user manuals: http://www.hometechnologyclub.com.au...&products_id=4 Would I recommend one of these kits? Absolutely! They are great value for an entry level system. Where did I buy from? http://www.rhinosecurity.com/go.php?...ist&group_id=2 Price? Under $700 delivered which is great value. The cameras can also play an alarm when motion is detected. The only real gripe I have is it seems if you turn this on, all cameras will set off the alarm, when I only want specific ones to do this (and this was because of all the false alarms during the day). The camera picture obviously isn't as good at night as it is during the day, but it is quite acceptable. 30m camera from the front: ![]() 30m camera from the back: ![]() Monitor showing all 4 cameras: ![]() Monitor showing camera 1: ![]() 15m camera: ![]() DVR unit: ![]() Night pics below. The light appears purplish on camera, but it is red to the naked eye. It also appears much brighter on camera than to the naked eye. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
